FortmanSpann, LLC is a seasoned Missouri-based law firm that serves clients facing a wide array of legal issues nationwide. We primarily practice franchise law on behalf of franchisees and trademark law for a variety of clients who need a legal team they can depend on. In the past we also practiced personal injury law, business law, consumer protection law, estate law, and more.

Jonathan E. Fortman
Attorney
Jon is married to his wife Laura and is a father of three, Stephen, 29, Noel, 22, and Carter, 18. Jon graduated from the University of Missouri in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. He then attended the St. Louis University School of Law where he graduated with his Juris Doctorate in 1992. After working a couple of years in a big firm, Jon branched out on his own and started his solo practice in 1995
Kelly M. Spann
Attorney
Kelly is married to her husband Todd and is the proud mom of Kyle, 19, Kinley, 12, and Kane, 7. She began working for Jon in 2004 as his legal assistant and paralegal. She graduated from Western Governors University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in business management. After gaining years of experience and encouragement from numerous other legal professionals, Kelly obtained her Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University School of Law in 2021 with a concentration in intellectual property law.
Beth Club
Operations Manager
Beth began as the Operations Manager at FortmanSpann in June 2023. Beth’s top priority is to serve clients as efficiently as possible. Her extensive experience in the dental field gives her an advantage in keeping the office organized, which makes her an essential member of the Firm. Her responsibilities include the overall function and management of the office. If it’s going on behind the scenes, she probably has her hand in it. Beth’s focus is keeping the office running smoothly so the legal team can focus on you!
Sydney England
LEGAL ASSISTANT
Sydney began working at FortmanSpann in 2021 as a legal assistant. She graduated from St. Louis Community College with an associate degree in General Transfer Studies in 2020 during the lockdown. She studies at the University of Missouri – St. Louis and will graduate in May 2024 with a B.S. in computer science, a minor in philosophy, and a certificate in cyber security. She plans to be a computer forensic analyst. In her free time, Sydney enjoys hiking, writing, reading, and spending time with her dog Ziggy.
Brittney Kane
Legal Assistant
Brittney began at Fortman Spann in February 2024 as the office Legal Assistant. Her previous role was in finance and administration. Her efficiency, dedication and acclimation to all roles obtained past and present is what makes her the best fit for this firm. Brittney is married to her husband Johnathan and has two wonderful children Mia 16, and Kane 10. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, baking and decorating.
